An iPhone undergoes complete data deletion and returns to its factory settings when users perform a factory reset. The process becomes beneficial when you need to sell your phone, resolve software problems, or create a new beginning. You must create a backup of your information through iCloud or a computer before learning how to factory reset an iPhone. 

Step 1: Back Up Your iPhone

Users should access Settings to tap their name, which leads them to iCloud and then to iCloud Backup, where they need to press Back Up Now or use iTunes Finder to back up their data from a computer.

Step 2: Sign Out of iCloud

Users should open Settings and select their name to access the Sign Out option to prevent future activation problems. Enter your Apple ID password if prompted.

Step 3: Start the Factory Reset

Users should access Settings to choose General, which leads them to Transfer or Reset iPhone. Users should select Erase All Content and Settings to proceed. Users should review all displayed information before making their selection.

Step 4: Enter Passcode and Confirm

To begin the iPhone reset process, you need to enter your iPhone passcode and Apple ID password. The device will proceed to restart while it removes all stored information.

Step 5: Set Up as New

The setup screen will appear on your iPhone after the process finishes. The device allows you to choose between setting it up as new or restoring your data from a backup.
